How lessons work

The Practice tab is a path of units. Each unit teaches a handful of words and has a few short lessons.

1. A unit opens with a deck of word cards: look through the words first, or skip them.
2. Then Warm Up, and lessons like In Context, each a few minutes long.
3. Finish a unit and the next one opens.

Lessons use the sentences and clips the words came from. Questions include:

• what the word means in a sentence, and true or false,
• filling the gap, by choosing or by typing,
• choosing the right form of the word,
• putting a phrase in order,
• which sentence uses the word right (or wrong),
• writing your own sentence with the word, or rewriting one.

Many questions have a speaker button to hear the sentence. Several right answers in a row earn extra XP.

The Words tab lists every word you saved and how well you know it.
